Maybe you already got bored about the “water” subject, but think about the fact that everything in this world needs some fuel to function, and so do we.
Water plays such an important role in our life that we can’t even imagine. We can live without food, but we can’t live without water. Think about the plants and the fact that they can live without the sun, but they will die if they don’t have water.
How many benefits comes with drinking water, will be another subject about which we’ll discuss in another post.
You already know how important water is for us, you hear about this on tv, you read about it, even your body sometimes tell you to have some water, but, do you really know how much water do you have to drink? Hydration plays such an important role in our lives, but unfortunately I feel that people don’t take this as seriously as they should.
Maybe it will sound a little bit funny, but, lets compare us with a plant. You have a big plant in a bigger pot, so, do you give that plant the same amount of water that you give to your smaller plant? No, you don’t. Depending on the size, you give a different amount of water to your plants. Imagine that the same thing is with your body. A person that weights 200 pounds needs way more water than a person who weights only 100 pounds.
Did you know that 60% of your body is water?
Maybe you did, maybe you didn’t, but, that should make you wonder if you drink enough water.
I made a little “research” if you can call it like that (I actually looked up on Google) and found out that you can easily find out how much water should you drink just by multiplying your weight with 67% and the result will be how much water in ounces you should drink. So, in my case, if I weight 140 pounds, I should drink 93.8 ounces of water every day. The recommended amount of water that you should drink every day is about 67 ounces, or about 8 glasses of water but as much as you can you should take in consideration your weight and of course how active you are.
Your weight in lbs x 67% = Amount of water in ounces
If you are from Europe I’m pretty sure that converting from ounces and pounds to milliliters and kilograms may be a bit overwhelming , so, to make it a little easier for you I made all the conversions and found out that all you have to do is multiply your weight with 0.043. So, if I weight 64 kg you will have to drink about 2.75 liters of water each day.

Your weight in kg x 43 = Amount of water in ml
Another thing that I’ve learned is the fact that if you have to drink at least 8 glasses of water per day it helps if you drink them during the day, sipping on water all the time. If you drink a large amount of water at once just to accomplish your goal, your body won’t have enough time to “realize” that there is water in your body and you’ll be probably going to the toilet every 5 minutes.
Try and sip water during the day so your body would have enough time to assimilate it. If you know that you have to drink at least 8 glasses of water each day, try and make a plan. For example, if you wake up at 7AM and go to bed at 10PM, that means that you are awake for 15 hours. Challenge yourself to drink a glass of water every 2 hours. So, from 7 to 9 first glass, from 9 to 11 the second glass and so on. Keep an app on your phone, that will help you a lot to visualize how much water you drink.
So, in the end… do you drink enough water?
Have a wonderful day !
